Description
Jack, a young boy, resists poetry assignments from his teacher saying only girls write poetry. Told through his entries in a diary, the story is written in free verse, telling how he comes to understand what a poem can mean to him. He finds that even he can be inspired to write a poem. The author drew inspiration from Walter Dean Myers’ poem, “Love That Boy.” Includes an excerpt from the sequel Hate That Cat.
